Tonight I’m going with a guy who has dropped in price dramatically due to his recent slump. I’m rolling with the reigning MVP in Josh Donaldson. I feel that he will be lower owned than he should be tonight because he has been cold but, tonight is the perfect opportunity to break out of this spell and really show us what he is capable of. He draws a fantastic matchup at home against Joe Kelly of the Red Sox. There are a couple of reasons why I like Donaldson tonight. First and foremost, he is 9-17 off Kelly with a home-run and 6 RBI’s. Secondly, he is extremely cheap for his superstar ability. Thirdly, he is facing a very competitive Red Sox team which is in their division, so his competitive drive will be there. Lastly, he’s at home. The fans will be supportive and Toronto is an excellent ballpark to hit in. Confidently lock Donaldson in tonight, taking advantage of his cheap price tag.
Pujols came up big yesterday with a 2 run home-run at only 5% owned. Lets keep this slugger hot and role with Mookie Betts of the Boston Red Sox. Mookie has been unbelievable as of late and is posed for a big game tonight with a great matchup against Jorge De La Rosa at Fenway Park who is coming right off of the DL. De La Rosa had command issues on his rehab assignment in AAA and those command issues will most likely continue considering the fact that he is going to be pitching at arguably the hardest ballparks to pitch at from a mental standpoint and a field dimension standpoint. I expect the Red Sox to knock De La Rosa all over the place tonight and Mookie will most likely be the center of attention to all of it. He will most likely get 5 at-bats tonight from the lead off spot. Betts is 16 for his last 44 (.364) spanning over10 games, including doubles in 4 straight games with 3 home-runs mixed into those games as well. Expect Mookie to be all over the bases tonight.
There are plenty of good plays out there tonight, but I’m going to give you a guy who has been under the radar in DFS and will most likely be low owned tonight. I’m picking Albert Pujols of the Angels tonight, drawing a favorable matchup against Derek Holland. I’m trying to stay somewhat cheap as well considering that Kershaw is a must-play every time he’s out on the mound. This game has an o/u of 9.5, which is tied for the highest total on tonight’s slate. Now I know Pujols doesn’t have the best batting avgerage so far this year but he has been hot as of late and the power and production is still there with 8 bombs and 28 RBI’s on the year. He’s batting 13-38 (.342) in his last 10 games. Pujols has been a lefty masher his whole career and is batting 8-28 off Holland with 3 doubles and 3 homeruns. 6 out of the 8 hits being extra-base hits tells me that he hits Holland hard and 28 at-bats is more than a sample size and proves that Pujols is always locked in when Holland is on the mound. Expect Pujols to be under 10% owned tonight and provide an extra-base hit or two for you.
