Severino is in one of the best match-ups he has seen all year long. A picture perfect spot at Tropicana Field against the Rays. He is a huge favorite and this game has a low total from Vegas. Rays are a team that consistently struggle to put up runs, and won’t have it easy to any stretch tonight against Severino. Severino is an awesome play in all formats tonight.
DeGrom is also in a great spot tonight at home against the Padres. The only issue here is the rain. It’s early in the day, but it’s looking like their could be some weather issues at Citi Field tonight. If the rain progresses later in the day, then go right ahead and roster deGrom with great confidence. However, I give the slight edge to Sevrino based on the match-ups. The big kickers here between the two are the weather and Severino being $100 cheaper on FanDuel.
Kluber is in a pretty good spot as a GPP pitcher tonight. He should go very over-looked tonight because of the 2 pitchers I have mentioned above. However, Kluber has just as much strikeout upside, and should be fairly low owned. He hasn’t been in his best form as of late, and the Pirates are swinging the bat very well. I do still like the middle risk – high reward upside he presents tonight as a tournament play. ALSO, if your a big vegas guy (like me) he is a -290 favorite tonight, making him the biggest favorite tonight.
Newcomb is strictly a possible GPP play tonight because of his very low salary and decent match-up. A lot of people are going to look at his recent game log and shy away from him. Not me necessarily. He has shown that he can be very good through a big portion of the year. He’s pitching in Miami against a not so great Marlin offense. At $7,100, I say fire away a couple tournament lineups with him and stack the s**t out of your bats.
