Max Scherzer (Cash)
Scherzer is a whomping $12,000 on FanDuel tonight and it’s for a good reason. A home match-up against the Rays, an ideal spot for Scherzer tonight. This is an inter league game (A.L v. N.L) meaning, that a lot of the players on the Rays haven’t seen much of Scherzer. Scherzer is the best pitcher in baseball right now, so it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve seen him honestly. I expect him to easily get over 50 fantasy point tonight, making him a an awesome cash game play even at his high salary.
Sean Newcomb (Cash/GPP)
Newcomb has had a surprisingly great year so far for the Braves and finds himself in a great spot tonight in San Diego. This game has a pretty low total and he is a pretty decent favorite. We all know that I love picking pitchers at the friendly pitching field in San Diego, Petco Park. The reason why I have a cash/gpp tag on Newcomb is because, even though he is a very strong play, I just don’t know if I want to pick anyone else in cash games other than Scherzer.
Kyle Hendricks (Cash/GPP)
I’m feeling the exact same for Hendricks as I did for Newcomb. Another very strong play tonight at a cheap $8,000 salary. The Cubs are a massive favorite tonight against the Phillies and the game total isn’t high at all. Hendricks has been pretty damn consistent all year long and has shown that he can get over 5 strikeouts just about every game. Hendricks’ consistency, matchup, and salary makes him a strong play in every format tonight.
Andrew Heaney (GPP)
Heaney sneakily finds himself in a great spot tonight at home against the Royals. He is definitely a guy that goes under the radar, meaning ownership should be down. He is an excellent GPP play due to his high upside, match-up, and low ownership. Expect the southpaw to get the win for the home crowd tonight.
Steven Wright (GPP)
LETS HAVE SOME FUN! Steven Wright is such an interesting play for me tonight in tournaments. His price is so low at $5,900 and he has been outstanding out of the Sox bullpen so far this year. Don’t get me wrong, this is an extremely risky play but, if his knuckleball is on, these Tigers hitters won’t know what to do with it. Knuckleball pitchers are rare once again in baseball these days and these players haven’t had much exposure to it. Wright could have a quick hook tonight, but could also go soooo deep into the game if he is on. Have some fun and throw him in some tournament lineups!
