5-23-16 Slugger of the Day

There are plenty of good plays out there tonight, but I’m going to give you a guy who has been under the radar in DFS and will most likely be low owned tonight. I’m picking Albert Pujols of the Angels tonight, drawing a favorable matchup against Derek Holland. I’m trying to stay somewhat cheap as well considering that Kershaw is a must-play every time he’s out on the mound. This game has an o/u of 9.5, which is tied for the highest total on tonight’s slate. Now I know Pujols doesn’t have the best batting avgerage so far this year but he has been hot as of late and the power and production is still there with 8 bombs and 28 RBI’s on the year. He’s batting 13-38 (.342) in his last 10 games. Pujols has been a lefty masher his whole career and is batting 8-28 off Holland with 3 doubles and 3 homeruns. 6 out of the 8 hits being extra-base hits tells me that he hits Holland hard and 28 at-bats is more than a sample size and proves that Pujols is always locked in when Holland is on the mound. Expect Pujols to be under 10% owned tonight and provide an extra-base hit or two for you.

Today I am going to pick on one of the wort pitchers in the MLB so far this season. I’m picking on Alfredo Simon of the Reds. How am I picking on him? By picking the best hitter he’s facing and one of the best players in baseball, Robinson Cano. This is one of my favorite matchups this season considering you possibly have the worst pitcher in baseball pitching against one of the best hitters in baseball. Not to mention the fact that this matchup is happening at Great American Ballpark, which is one of the best hitting ballparks behind Coors field. Cano hasn’t been too hot as of late but expect things to turn for the better today with him. Cano will certainly be on-base and I expect at least 10 FanDuel points out of him today.

5-19-16 Slugger of the Day

My last slugger, Corey Seager got a couple hits but unfortunately had no runs or rbi’s to back that up. Tonight, I’m rolling with a guy who is in the run for best SS in the league in Francisco Lindor. Normally, with the year Lindor is having, he would be an easy candidate for the all-star game. However, Correa and Bogaerts are having a huge start to the season which seems to take away the attention on Lindor. I have been a huge fan of Lindor since he got in the league and I’m picking him while he’s hot. He’s 15 for his last 46 which is just about a .333 average. He’s facing a very inexperienced pitcher, Tim Adleman, and I expect Lindor to take full advantage of him. Don’t be surprised if Lindor puts up his FOURTH straight 3 hit game….

Other than Lorenzo Cain (who hits 3 home-runs the night AFTER I pick him) the guru slugger has been hot with recent performances of Odor (24.9 points), Ryan Braun (30.9 points), Yelich (15.2 points), and Josh Reddick last night getting a solid 12.2 points. Tonight I am rolling with the big dog Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton always has a ceiling of 2 home-runs and I think he could do that tonight against Chase Anderson of the Brewers. Anderson has been terrible and Stanton is batting 4 – 11 off him with a home-run. In my mind, Stanton should always be priced around $5,000 just because he is a threat to homer off of anyone at any park. His price tag being at $4,400 really makes me want him and is why he is my #sluggeroftheday . Enjoy!

5-10-16 Slugger of the Day

Cain was a bit of a disappointment for the spot he was in only going 1-4. Tonight’s slugger is Josh Reddick of the Oakland A’s. Reddick has been one of the hottest hitters as of late. Reddick’s last 5 games have been insane, hitting .620 (13-21). At a very affordable price of $3,200 and facing a spot start pitcher in Sean O’Sullivan of the Boston Red Sox. Reddick draws a great righty-lefty matchup tonight and should rake. Plug him in.

Braun certainly wasn’t a disappointment yesterday scoring a massive 30 FanDuel points. Tonight’s slugger is, what I think, one of the top value plays on the board tonight in Lorenzo Cain. Cain is a 5 tool player and can get you points in any way in DFS. He’s way too cheap for the talent he has. He is priced low because he was in a slump but seems to have broken out of it having multi-hit games in 4 of his last 5 games. He is playing at Yankee stadium where everyone turns into a power hitter. He draws a favorable matchup against Nova who has been pretty pathetic this year. This game draws an 8.5 total which tells me that there will be some hitting going on. Cain should be able to put up a good number for you at a very affordable price of $3,100.

5-8-16 Slugger of the Day

Yesterday’s slugger of the day in Christian Yelich produced very nicely. Keeping the train rolling today with Ryan Braun against the lefty John Lamb of the Brewers. If you have been paying attention the last few days you would see that this Brewers v. Reds series has been nothing but a lot of runs. We should continue to see this today with a high total of 9. Braun has been feasting as of late hitting .350 in his last 10 games. He is also a lefty masher and should be able to tag John Lamb today. A lot of people don’t see that John Lamb is the lowest priced pitcher on FanDuel, meaning that he is expected to lit up today. Expect Braun to get an extra-base hit or 2 today for you.

I’m looking to target Hellickson tonight with the hot hitting Christian Yelich. Yelich is batting .280 in his last 10 games including 3 homeruns in his last 4 games. Hellickson has as only been a pitcher to pick against in DFS and that’s exactly what I’m doing tonight. Yelich bats in the meat of that Miami batting order and should be able to produce at a very affordable price of $3,500 tonight.

A rough night for Realmuto last night but that’s baseball for ya. Hopping back on the train tonight where I’m going to be riding on Mookie Betts of the Boston Red Sox. Betts is a 5 tool player and can get you points in any way imaginable in DFS. He has hits in 8 of his last 10 games and draws a favorable matchup tonight against Pineda who has a 6.33 ERA so far this year. I don’t see that ERA shrinking too much at the little league field of Yankee Stadium tonight against the slugging Red Sox. Betts is batting 5 for 15 off of Pineda with 2 doubles and 2 home-runs. Expect Betts to easily get 4 maybe 5 at-bats tonight and find multiple ways to get on base. Take advantage of Betts being below the 4K salary mark on FanDuel tonight.

There have been plenty of guys who have been hot the last week or so, but no one has been as hot as J.T Realmuto. Realmuto is still at a very cheap price of $3,000 on FanDuel and is batting .463 in his last 10 games with 6 of those games being multi-hit games. I can’t really remember the last catcher to be a lead off hitter, but it seems to be working wonders for Realmuto and the Marlins. With a lefty like Robbie Ray on the mound tonight, Realmuto should be able to feast and keep the fire under him burning. Also, the Marlins are a righty hitting powerhouse and will have plenty of chances to drive in Realmuto when he gets on base. Don’t be afraid to pick other guys on the Marlins tonight other than J.T Realmuto.
